The powder coating doesn’t give the extra insulation but keeps the cup light weight and allows it to be soaked in water, go in the freezer, and go in the dishwasher. However; any double walled stainless steel tumbler (even ones from stores) will eventually have the insulation inside break down from the heat of the dishwasher. The design on sublimation tumblers is a specially printed image that is then baked into the powder coating on the cup. Due to being baked on, it won’t wash off, get cloudy if soaked, or crack when dropped. The sublimation tumblers can have any flat image baked onto them.
